Seriously
If you're willing to put the time into the relatively short learning curve WordPress is a much better blogging platform. I seriously can't go back to using livejournal as my primary blog. WordPress is the only blog that gives you full control over your blog (without starting your own website). you can use a pre-existing template and edit it to your hearts content or if you're really good you can just html your way to your own. I think learning how to manipulate the FTP browser like Cyberduck was the hardest part. I seriously love it.
Sadly, most of my readers (I think I'm up to 12 haha) know my live journal, and another 3 or 4 are livejournal users themselves so checking a "friends page" is easier than navigating to a new site. in addition to the rather disheartening fact that those other LJ users would actually have to have the conviction and memory to navigate to my word press blog.
